Adele - Set Fire to the Rain

Remember last week when I told you that music was poetry? It was no joke! This week I want you to choose a video to watch and study the lyrics of. You get to pick the video - this is not categorized by hour! After you watch the video, I want you to talk about what you think the song means in the comments section. You can respond to what other people have said or ask them questions about their responses.

Something to keep in mind - when you say what you THINK the song means, you need to be able to back it up with evidence. So in addition to saying what you think the meaning is, you also have to tell me why you think that. Have fun!

    i think this song means that adele is dpressed over a boy and she canta stop thinking about that person.to suporrt this thought it said in the song that " i let it fall, my heart, and as it fell,you ose to clam it". that measn that she gave him everything and he doesnt even care anymore.

      I agree with that, and the way she talks (or sings) about him makes her sound kind of hateful and broken about the relationship. :'(

    I think Adele wrote this song because her boyfriend broke up with her and she is desprite. I know this because it sayed 'Feel you here forever, You and me together, nothing is better' so you can tell she broke up with her boyfriend.

    i think that Adele can't stop thinking about a guy so she is having a hard time forgetting him. Also you can really tell that she just broke up with him and you can tell that she is just desprite and when it says " cause there's a side to you that i never knew never knew" it. kinda say that she really did not know him that well but really did like him and she is sorry for everything she did to him everything she wants to take back. she is Also very Sad that she had to go throw this and she wants to make it up. when is say Let it Burn. It means all her feelings coming at her, She is having a hardx time.

    I think this song means that Adele is depressed over a guy. A guy that she seems she really shouldn't be depressed over and that she would do everything for him and that shes happy with him when hes around. To support the part where she really shouldn't be depressed over him is that "But there's sides to you that I never knew, never knew, All the things you'd would say, they were never true, never true,And the games you would play, you would always win, always win." To support the part where the guy makes her happy at time " When I lay with you I could stay there, CLose my eyes,feel you here forever, Youand me together, nothing is better." The part that supports that she do anything for him is that " Even now when we're already over, I can't help myself from looking for ya."

    I think the song is about how at first her and this guy were in love and then after t ime she got to know him and he was a jerk. Also that she let the relationship go on to long. As it says in the song, "there is a side of you that I never knew," saying that she finally found out what kind of guy he was.

    I think this song is about how when she was with this guy that bad things happen and good things happen and she feels like she still has feelings for him.

    I think this song is about Adele and her relationship that went really bad and she just let all the anger build up but when she gets over all the anger, she starts to like him again.

    I think thata this song is about a relationship that someone just rushed into, and thought that it was going to just be really great and stuff, but in the end when she really got to know the guy, he was just a big jerk. He was a poser and the guy that Adele fell in love with turned out to have a completely different personality than she thought. She also tried to make things better and ended up changing herself for a guy which you should NEVER DO! At the end of the song, it says "cause I knew that that was the last time" which kind of sounds like she dumped the guy and realized what was really important to her.

    at the beginning she is basiclly saying that this guy that she met acted like a good boyfriend at first and that was when she was weak and desperate for something new at the time. and then after awhile he gets too comfortable and turns into something that she doesnt like and hes not a good boyfriend but she is still so confused as to what to do because she still kin of likes him. so adele is kind of in the middle of things.

    i think its about her break up with a guy and she feels like her inerworld/feelings have bean burned to the ground and life he crushed her heart and she has found out that her boyfriend had a bad side then she knew out and she needs to find the side of the acucle person.
    she is upset in the song its said she ''set fire to the rain'' as if she is saying her goodbyes.

    i think adele is hasing a bad break up with her exboyfriend. her pain that her felling that hert so bad she felles like theres fire in the rain. she just want to let all of her anger and fellings out she really upset she could only explain her felling in a song.also dpressed over a boy and she canta stop thinking about that person.to suporrt this thought it said in the song that " i let it fall, my heart, and as it fell,you ose to clam it". that measn that she gave him everything and he doesnt even care anymore.

    I think at first she thought he was a good but when she got to know him or they got in a fight he wasnt the guy she thought he was. I think thta he lied to her and started telling lies about her and them. plus that he was hursh and starting being mean to her and started yeling at her or someone and hse didnt like it and she knew she had to stop dating him right then.

    I think that it about a bad break up and shes week about it and shes alone and she don’t know how to reaact and she is kind of mad and she really had feelings for him I know this because It says “when I lay with you I can stay there and close my eyes”andhe dident mean it for love cause it sayed “and the games you played and palayed you will win and allways win”and she wans done with him cause at the end it sayed “let it burn!!” and the guy that broke up with her made he really rich

    I think that this song "set fire to the rain" by Adele is about this girl who thought that she knew her boyfriend, but when she got to really know him he was not the same guy as she thought. she even says "theres a side of you that i never knew"

    I think the song "Set Fire to the Rain" by Adelle is about the realtionship she had with a guy that she really liked. But it eventually turns into a really bad relationship, and she realizes she doesn't really love him anymore. It even says in the song, "I through us into the flames" which means she doesnt want anything to do with her old boyfriend anymore.

    meaning-I think this song is about how a relationship played out. The girl was trying to make it last while the boy moved on.
    Evidence- In the song it said "We would play this game but you would always win."
    I couldn't find a figurative language but a sound was screaming.

    I think that "Set Fire to the Rain" is about this girl who was in a relationship with this guy, but she realizes that he isn't the guy for her and that there is a side that she didn't know about him. Also its explains how the stuff he told her were lies. Throughout the songs she tells this guy how she is done with him. I know this because in the song it says "Theres a side to you that i never knew, never knew" "The things you said, they were never true, never true." "I knew that, that was the last time, last time." But it also explains how she still isn't over him because in the song it says "Even now when we're already over i can't help myself from looking forward." So she still has feelings for him but she is done. So thats what I think this songs is trying to say.

    I think that this song is about a boy that she really liked & at first he was sweet and nice and everything she wanted. But, then his true colors came out & she finally saw the real him, but she loves him & she still isn't over him. So, I think she loved him & then he showed his true colors that his a jerk , and then they broke up.
