The Beatles - Let it Be

Remember last week when I told you that music was poetry? It was no joke! This week I want you to choose a video to watch and study the lyrics of. You get to pick the video - this is not categorized by hour! After you watch the video, I want you to talk about what you think the song means in the comments section. You can respond to what other people have said or ask them questions about their responses.

Something to keep in mind - when you say what you THINK the song means, you need to be able to back it up with evidence. So in addition to saying what you think the meaning is, you also have to tell me why you think that. Have fun!

    I'm pretty sure this song is about faith/religion. It sounds to me like a "It's all going to be okay" song. I think it's about faith/religion as the song talks about Mother Mary, light shines on the character, help in the hour of darkness, etc. The part about it being an "It's all going to be okay" song, is how the words "Let it be" keep getting repeated. To me, this sounds like "It's all okay". The song also talks about, what seems to me as, 'tough times' and getting help for Mother Mary, as mentioned above. The character could be going through these 'tough times' and is just talking about keeping your faith.

      To bad this was one of the groups last songs they made. This was their last single before Paul McCartney left. I don't even think John Lennon sang. Paul McCartney has a beautiful voice though.

      I agree with the tune and just him singing about the religons and faith its a good song to relaxe and think.

    I think the song is about when all of this junk in our world is going on you just have to let it be. Like it says in the song “Speaking words of wisdom, let it be,” in the long run it is better to just let it be than to take out your anger. That’s why those are words of wisdom. I think this song means to listen to the whisper or voice inside your head, telling you no. I even think that if everybody really listens to this song they will see the the lesson that is really trying to be told. If everybody just let it be it would a safer and more perfect world.

    i think this song might be about a girl who was being herself but then she started acting the way other people were so she felt she could fit in. thats what i think. :[^] also the dude singing is telling her to be herself... maby thats what im getting out of the song :) its a good song though!!

    I think it is motivational because he is sad till the middle and in the beginning he is saying "and when the broken hearted people living in the world, there will be an answer, let it be.” So touching!!!!! :,)

    I think that this song is talking about how even though his life can get hard he finds some possitive out of it. I think that this song is talking about faith and stuff like that. but anyways i beliee that he is a very posstive man.

    I think this song was was saying just settle down and don't take life so harshly like when it says "let it be" its saying just go with the flow instead of getting everything perfect because nobody's perfect and then the part "whisper words of wisdom" stay wise and act like you know something.

    I think this song was just saying to slow down or calm down. also and don't take life the hard way. I also think it is saying to just back off and leave something alone when you don't want to be in it. The song could also mean that even life can be hard get some good/positive out of live before you do something wrong.

    I think this song is about even when your in you darlest hour let it be and dont get mad at other people because everything will be okay. In the song it keeps saying let it be which i think is saying is dont get mad. Also it says speak words of wisdom which think means is to not say mean hurtful things to someone else just because you are mad and to let it be.
