Alright, guys. We've been working under the flipped classroom model for a
week now. What do you think about it so far? What are the pros and cons
now that you're in it? Let's talk about it!
I agree with you, some people will forget how to get there or just get distracted at night and not check the blog, but it is a good thing Mrs. Boehle lets just watch the videos in class.
I like giving you guys the option of watching the videos in class, but I'm not sure that it will always be an option. I have a feeling some people might have to stay after school some days to watch a video if they can't do it at home.
How did you guys feel about the workload this week. You had to watch two videos, take notes, write a response, and you got language work. Do you think you could handle more than that? Did it feel manageable?
Yes it was pretty manageable, we had over a week to work on our response, the language work isn't due until next Wednesday, and we had two days to watch the videos. It was very balanced.
I think that it's going pretty well. I like how we can watch it on our own time. Also I like how we just don't have a bunch of notes to write down that there are spaces between them. There is one thing I'm not a big fan of and that is how long the videos are.
I enjoyed be able to re watch the videos at anytime, like especially the one with the reading response because if you don't understand how to do a reading response you could just go back to that video to watch it.
I like having more home work because I fell that it's preparing us for high school an difficult have something to do at home because my house is boring
I think it was pretty manageable, this is because like Lindsey said, the language work isn't due until next Wednesday so we have all weekend to work on that. We've had like 2 weeks notice on our reading response and it was all just very manageable and easy to do!
I also liked the new reading response prompts, they add more interest when writing our responses they, helped me learn more about my characters, and to make deeper connections and inferences.
One thing that several people mentioned in first hour as a con of this model is that some people may not be able to handle the responsibility of watching the videos on their own time. These videos take the place of my instruction, so they're pretty important for people to watch. How do you think we can hold people accountable for watching them?
Maybe at the end of the week ask the kids questions about it to see if they know what the video talked about and if they don't give them a homework hall
like Lindsey said, you could give them a homework assignment or you could look at their notes to make sure their writing them down and following along with the videos.
You don't have to watch them in class if you don't want to. That was kind of the whole goal in the first place - you can watch them at home and then do the work here.
I like this too, but I don't think we really waste time in class, because the videos are about as long as a normal mini-lessons, and you can watch them at home for extra time.
I believe this the best idea that Mrs. Boehle has given us because you can go home work on whatever you did in other classes then if you need a refresher on what you did in language arts today just go online to Mrs. Boehle's page and re-watch what we did. Its so weird how the class room is so quiet now since everyone is on a computer or phone but thats how you know everyone is working. But out of everything I think this is great. Thank you Mrs. Boehle for trying something new and taking time out of your sleep schedule to teach us how to be better writers and readers.
Have you tried watching them at home so you can have more time to work in class? That was my original goal with this model - to have you guys watch them at home.
What do you guys think about the idea of me taking a grade on the notes you take when you watch a video? It would be an easy participation grade for you guys, but would also help me figure out who isn't watching videos.
Yeah, I know. I definitely don't want to punish people who don't have internet access at home. I am always here for at least a half hour after school, and anyone is welcome to stay and watch videos then if they'd like.
I like how I can watch these whenever I have time but if my power/internet goes out i cant get it done, that's why they should be due at the end or start of the week...
i enjoy the fact that these are viral for many reasons A. you can watch them anywhere 2. you can submit your opinions to see what can be changed and D. if you do something or someone`s name incorrectly they can`t call them out
If i was to answer this honestly i would have to sadly say no, i don't see us being able to use this all year due to people becoming lazier and lazier and not doing their part in watching the videos at home.
I really enjoyed being able to go back and re-watch the videos at home if I did not fully understand something.
ReplyDeleteIs that something you did?
DeleteI agree.
DeleteYes, I re-watched the latest video you uploaded about reading responses last night to help me structure it better.
DeleteThat's cool. I'm glad it helped!
DeleteI agree I like how we can do that
DeleteI really like how we can do this! I agree with this.
DeleteI think that it is much easier to use but somewhat harder if people forget to check the blog.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, some people will forget how to get there or just get distracted at night and not check the blog, but it is a good thing Mrs. Boehle lets just watch the videos in class.

DeleteThat would be hard for some people if they have after school activities and can't stay.
DeleteHow did you guys feel about the workload this week. You had to watch two videos, take notes, write a response, and you got language work. Do you think you could handle more than that? Did it feel manageable?
ReplyDeleteYes it was pretty manageable, we had over a week to work on our response, the language work isn't due until next Wednesday, and we had two days to watch the videos. It was very balanced.
DeleteI could have handled more work!
DeleteI think that it's going pretty well. I like how we can watch it on our own time. Also I like how we just don't have a bunch of notes to write down that there are spaces between them. There is one thing I'm not a big fan of and that is how long the videos are.

ReplyDeleteI like that too!
Deletechelsea emojis dont work on computer
DeleteI like having more home work because I fell that it's preparing us for high school an difficult have something to do at home because my house is boring
ReplyDeleteThe flipped class is really teaching us more responsibility for high school , its helping us manage our time. Which is something i enjoy.
Deletei liked that i could go back at any time and re watch the videos when i wanted to
ReplyDeletethats what i said
DeleteDid you guys feel like you needed to do that this week? What video was it?
Deletethats what i said
Deletei didn't need to do it this week but one day I will need to watch a video over and over and i'm glad that i'll be able to
Deletei like this a lot better then the normal class because you can just go back and watch the video to find out what you missed or did wrong
ReplyDeleteI feel weird.. it's so quiet in here and I like that Mrs.Boehle let's us watch the videos in class.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Right now it's too quiet? Or this week?
DeleteI don't like when it's quiet. IT NEEDS TO BE LOUD
DeleteI think it was pretty manageable, this is because like Lindsey said, the language work isn't due until next Wednesday so we have all weekend to work on that. We've had like 2 weeks notice on our reading response and it was all just very manageable and easy to do!

ReplyDeleteYeah I liked that too it really helped me more.
DeleteOh, shoot! I forgot to finish typing the ones you guys rewrote. I'll do that next week for sure!
Deletethis helped me a lot more, I really enjoy this!
DeleteI like watching the videos because I can pause and rewind whenever I want to. This helps me understand what we're doing a lot better.
ReplyDeleteI, too, like this, also, as well.
DeleteOne thing that several people mentioned in first hour as a con of this model is that some people may not be able to handle the responsibility of watching the videos on their own time. ReplyDeleteYou could always have a homework assignment with the video we had to watch that night.
DeleteI kind of think of the notes as proof that you watched it. Maybe I should just check those?
DeleteMaybe at the end of the week ask the kids questions about it to see if they know what the video talked about and if they don't give them a homework hall
DeleteThat is a good idea.
Deletelike Lindsey said, you could give them a homework assignment or you could look at their notes to make sure their writing them down and following along with the videos.
DeleteI think that at the end of the week we could have a group discussion about the notes and video(s) and then share a few things that we liked about it?
DeleteI liked how we could re watch these at home if we needed to but I don't like how we waist class time by watching them in class.
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to watch them in class if you don't want to. That was kind of the whole goal in the first place - you can watch them at home and then do the work here.
DeleteThat is something I really enjoyed.
DeleteI disagree because I really like how we have time to watch them in class
Deletebut then we HAVE to watch them and it's bad sometimes.
DeleteI like this too, but I don't think we really waste time in class, because the videos are about as long as a normal mini-lessons, and you can watch them at home for extra time.
Deleteps. you spelled waste wrong
in class*

ReplyDeleteHey, you're welcome! :)
Deletewell I think the video was to long because for me it started at 9:17 and ended in between 9:45 and 9:46
ReplyDeletei ended roughly around that area
DeleteThey are kind of long, I know. I'm trying to make them as short as possible, but sometimes they go longer than I want them to.
Deletei really liked the flipped schedule and i think that we should continue with it
ReplyDeletetotally
Deletei agree
Deletei so agree u braw
Deletethe video was to long it took up the hole hour
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the videos but sometimes they can be very long and we don't have work time to do at the end of the videos.
ReplyDeleteIs it a possibility for you to watch them at home instead of in class?
DeleteYes I could watch the videos at home also!
Deletethis is a good way to get work done at school and at home almost simultaneously
ReplyDeletehi logan
DeleteI also liked the flipped schedule
ReplyDeletei really liked the flipped schedule because we had less distractions so it made it so much easier to finish it
ReplyDeleteThe videos need to be shorter though. We barely have anytime to work.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried watching them at home so you can have more time to work in class? That was my original goal with this model - to have you guys watch them at home.
DeleteI don't have internet at home.
Deleteyeah some of the videos were very long
ReplyDeleteI have always had issues with teachers not repeating themselvs
ReplyDeleteSo this helps you? Because you can watch it again?
DeleteWhat do you guys think about the idea of me taking a grade on the notes you take when you watch a video? It would be an easy participation grade for you guys, but would also help me figure out who isn't watching videos.
ReplyDeleteI second this idea!
DeleteYeah I think that's a really good idea
DeleteI think this would be a good idea!
DeleteYeah I really like this idea!!
Deletesomething that might stop people from watching the videos from home is if they don't have access to internet
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know. I definitely don't want to punish people who don't have internet access at home. I am always here for at least a half hour after school, and anyone is welcome to stay and watch videos then if they'd like.
DeleteI agree with this.
Deletei think it is a great idea
ReplyDeleteafter watching the first couple of minutes of the optional video Mrs. bohle looked sort of like she was hiding in the shadows similar to Batman
ReplyDeleteHaha, I wish! I do kind of like to think of my garage as my Batcave. Maybe I'll do my next video from there. ;)
DeleteI think of my bedroom as my safe house
Deletebut no more
ReplyDeleteNo more what?
DeleteMaybe he doesn't like the flipped class?
DeleteI like how I can watch these whenever I have time but if my power/internet goes out i cant get it done, that's why they should be due at the end or start of the week...
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY
DeleteI think the work load was to much this week because I have other homework in other classes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with u man!
Deletethe notes didn't really help me
ReplyDeletewhat did help you m8
Deleteyes
ReplyDeletestrugling
ReplyDeleteLast thoughts: Is this model something you can see us doing all year? Tell me your thinking.
ReplyDeleteyes, I like doing this for assignments
Deleteyes because i really like this and think its abetter alternative to what we did last year
Deletethis is definitely something we will enjoy this year because it is fast and efishant
DeleteYeah I feel like this would help me more. So I would love to do this all year
Deletei really like doing this
Deleteyes we all enjoy watching these helpful videos
Deletethe notes kind of helped me
ReplyDeletei enjoy the fact that these are viral for many reasons A. you can watch them anywhere 2. you can submit your opinions to see what can be changed and D. if you do something or someone`s name incorrectly they can`t call them out
ReplyDeleteI think the notes helped a lot to me
ReplyDeletei think that this will work personalty it seems sophisticated enough
ReplyDeleteIf i was to answer this honestly i would have to sadly say no, i don't see us being able to use this all year due to people becoming lazier and lazier and not doing their part in watching the videos at home.
ReplyDeleteTristin's being mean to me.
ReplyDeleteI think i could do this all year. My question is like over winter, spring, and fall will you still be posting?
ReplyDeleteI meant break
DeleteFor sure! I think it would be fun to post some option videos just to stay in touch with you guys. :)
DeleteI could see this going on all year it helps alot
ReplyDeletei really like the flipped classroom because i can understand you better than just you talking to everyone in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Boehle is the coolest!
