Ready to post?! Start here, please!

Hi, kids! Welcome to my blog! This is where you'll respond with your thinking about the book you're reading. Each of your books is fiction, so they all have a lot in common. I'm going to give you some ideas about what you can post that will work no matter which book you're reading.

You could write about...
  • The main character. This is just like we talked about in intervention.  Here are some things you could think about your main character:
    • What kind of person is your character? How do you know? Find evidence (proof) that supports what you know.
    • What patterns do you notice in this character's behavior? What do you think those patterns say about your character? Find evidence (proof) that supports what you know.
    • How does the main character treat other characters in the book? What do you think that means? Find evidence (proof) that supports what you know.
  • Conflict. There's conflict in every book because characters always face problems. It's what makes a book interesting to read. Here are some questions you could answer about conflict:
    • What is the main problem of the book? How does the character handle it?
    • What predictions do you have about how the problem will turn out? How will it be solved? What evidence can you find to support your thinking?
    • Does the problem affect the relationships between the characters? How? Find evidence to support your thinking.
  •  Setting. This is when and where the story takes place. Setting is VERY important in every fiction story you read. What have you noticed about your setting? Here are some things to think about:
    • Authors use the setting to create a mood. What mood does the setting give your book? How do you know? Find evidence to support your thinking.
    • The characters in your story interact with the setting, and sometimes it shapes or changes who they are. Does the setting in your book affect the characters? How? Find evidence to support your thinking.
If you ever need help thinking about what to write, come back to this post and you'll be able to get plenty of ideas. Make sure you're flagging your thinking as you read. It will really help you out when it comes time to respond.

Good luck! Have fun! :)

  4. Title: Divergent By Veronica Roth
    Topic: Conflict
Right now in my book Beatrice (now its Tris)is having conflict between this guy named Peter is causing problems and making fun of her with his friends molly, and drew. And when Tris got done with a shower to go and change Peter made fun of her and yanked her towel off of her body. Tris was so embarrassed and ran to the bathroom really fast and changed. Then when the training started for people to fight Tris went up against Molly and the author said that Tris was really mad so Tris was completely dominating Molly. when they got done Molly was covered in blood and Tris won. I predict that Tris and Molly and Peter and Drew are still going to have conflict all through out the book. And i think this because they are definitely not friends because of the way they act to each other and also because they are from different factions. And most of the time people from different factions don't like each other and they try not to associate with each other.

In my book a four year old kid named bean has no memory of his parents all he has are his super accurate wits and his newfound gang with some of the other little kids. Rotterdam beans home town is under ruins from the last bugger attack, Buggers are insect like aleins that have attacked our world twice now. Bean has survived the bugger attacks and the cold streets of rotterdam but when his crew leader poke dies he must live on his own again. The battle school has been breeding kid soldiers since some of them have been 5 years old they put them in with 15 year olds and tell them to "survive" the school. So when bean gets sent to the battle school he has to make friends or defend himself from the other kids, Bean knows the battle school has some stuff behind its staff so he will survive the battle school... one way or another

  7. Book: Seriews Of Unfotunate Events *The Reptile Room* By- Lemony Snicket

I think that my first character, Sunny is a fiesty 2 year old because she Loves to bite people who harm her Friends and family. I think my second character, Klaus is very SMART because he loves reading books. I think that Mrs. Boehle would lioke him because he loves books. if you put a book, any book in front of him, he will read it! I think that my last character, Violet is a very CREATIVE 14 year old because she loves to invent things like me. She makes plans for everything and inventions too! i have proof that all three of my characters act this way because sunny bit Count Olafs hand when Count Olaf Slaped Klaus acrossed the face. alsso, in the book they were going to peru and klaus and violet had to make traps and they both used their mand to cdo so.

  9. Book: Hate List by jennifer brown
    topic:characters,summary,author
my main characters a girl named valerie and her boyfriend nick made a hate list because he opened a fire on their school cafeteria he came to schoool the next day with a gun and shot everyone he hated except jessica because his girlfriend stands in front of her a he accidently shot her but shes makes then he turns around a shot his self. I like how the author is writing the story because it reminds me of a movie how they tell the end and back in time to see what happens. like in one of the pretty little lairs the end of the season.

  11. Book: Pictures Of Hollis Woods by Patrica Reilly Giff
    Topic: Main Character
In my book Hollis dosnt really like faimly's becasue she never fits in because she goes foster home to foster home, and the book said that she runs a lot. So she dosnt stay in one home for long.
I don't think my character likes many people because she always is really rude. Also she always talks back and runs away. Another thing is that she blames everything on her self, so even if someone obviously did it she will blame her self. Like her "brother" wrecked the truck he was NOT supposed to drive and he wrecked it but she blamed it on herself.
So i think my character dosnt think positive, she is a negative person.
